Jiaxuan Yi is a Canada-based award-winning artist, focusing on oil portraiture, landscape, and calligraphy.

His work, ranging across several genres, including portraits, figures, still life, landscapes, ink paintings and calligraphy, is an attempt to break the traditional patterns of visual arts without rejecting their classical essence. Jiaxuan Yi’s work seemingly bears the mere intention of expressing emotions, is actually more of a signifier that points to realms which only belong to viewers themselves. His work is not an end in and of itself, but a point of departure to various realms.Unremittingly, he makes his own Introspective Pathosformels to match his true feelings. Beyond his rational control, it seems that paints and canvas start to take on a life of their own, and seems Kunstwollen begins to conduct its enigmatic magic, both of which are diverting him to undiscovered artistic terrains.

His paintings and calligraphy have been selected for exhibitions in world-renowned professional and academic institutions across Canada and internationally, such as the Royal Society of Portrait Painters, Royal Institute of Oil Painters, the Royal Ulster Academy of Arts, the Bulter Institute and so on. His recent awards include the RSMA Charles Pears Award, the RBSA Portrait Prize Exhibition Highly Commended by Jurors Award, Kenzaburo Date Memorial Award, multiple awards from the Portrait Society of America, the Biafarin Award in the Society of Canadian Artists, and the CollexArt Awards.

Jiaxuan is an Elected Member of the Society of Canadian Artists, Ontario Society of Artists, and Portrait Society of Canada.
